Project Background
This enterprise mainly engages in the production of daily chemical raw materials and industrial surfactants. Its end products have strict internal control standards for color, clarity, and particle content. The original filtration system used old-fashioned bag-type filters, which had problems such as insufficient pressure resistance, weld corrosion and leakage, and cumbersome bag replacement operations, seriously affecting the continuous production efficiency and product yield.
Solution
After a technical assessment, the customer selected two JYMF-12P-316L type multi-bag filters, which were arranged in parallel for use and backup, to meet the 24-hour uninterrupted production requirements. This equipment perfectly suits its demanding working conditions:

Corrosion resistance and cleanliness assurance
The main body of the equipment is made of 316L stainless steel and undergoes sandblasting treatment. This not only enables it to withstand the salts and acidic/alkaline media remaining from the synthesis process of surfactants, but also the matte surface resulting from the sandblasting reduces material adhesion, facilitating cleaning and preventing cross-contamination between batches.
High-pressure safe operation
The design pressure is 10 bar. It is equipped with bottom inlet and outlet (10 inches, 150-pound class, in accordance with ASME B 16.5 standard flange), effectively responding to the instantaneous water hammer impact generated when the process pump is started, and ensuring the sealing safety under high-temperature (80~100℃) conditions.
Convenient maintenance design
Considering the limited space at the customer's site and the frequent replacement of filter bags, the hydraulic rocker arm enables the top cover to open and close easily, allowing a single person to quickly complete the filter bag replacement. The detachable forklift-specific base (with carbon steel crossbars matching the color of the cylinder body) solves the problem of transporting and installing the equipment in the workshop. After use, removing the crossbars will not affect the overall appearance.
Precise monitoring and emissions
Each inlet and outlet is equipped with a 1/4-inch pressure gauge (displaying in bar units), allowing operators to determine the timing for bag replacement based on the pressure difference; 2-inch NPT discharge ports and vent ports are equipped with valves, facilitating the complete removal of air before starting the machine and thorough emptying of the heavy-phase impurities deposited at the bottom during shutdown.
Core filter element matching
Due to the product's viscosity ranging from 150 to 300 cps, a dedicated filter basket was customized: with a thickness of 2mm, a hole diameter of 10mm, a spacing of 6mm, and 60-degree staggered circular holes. This structure effectively increases the open area rate, while ensuring the filtration area and reducing the resistance when the material passes through, thereby increasing the actual flux of a single group of filter bags by approximately 20%.
Operation effectiveness
  • After the equipment was put into operation, the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the filter was stably controlled within 0.3 to 0.5 bars (before replacement).
  • The removal rate of particles larger than 10 micrometers in the terminal products reached 99.2%.
  • The sealing ring was made of EPDM material. It did not undergo swelling or hardening when in contact with alcohol-ether type solvents.
  • The continuous and stable operation of the equipment did not result in cylinder leakage.
  • The hydraulic rocker arm and quick-opening mechanism reduced the single filter bag replacement time from the original 45 minutes to 15 minutes, significantly reducing the labor intensity of the operators.
Customer evaluation:

This equipment has met and even exceeded expectations in terms of pressure resistance, operational convenience, and filtration accuracy. Currently, it has been designated as the standard filtration selection equipment for new production lines of this enterprise.
