The long-term operation case of the JYMF-6P-316 multi-bag filter in the pre-treatment station of seawater desalination in the Middle East
This client is located in the industrial zone along the coast of the Middle East and is a seawater desalination operator specializing in dual water supply routes for municipal and industrial use. The pre-treatment section originally used multiple single-bag filters operating in parallel. It has long faced three major problems: the filter bag replacement frequency was too high (the pressure difference reached the alarm value every 72 hours), the SS316L pipeline suffered from weld leakage due to chloride ion corrosion, and the on-site space was too tight to expand.
The customer requires a filtration device that can handle a single flow rate of ≥ 80 m³/h, is resistant to seawater chloride corrosion, and can operate continuously under a working pressure of 6 bar. Additionally, it is required that the device has smooth exhaust at the top to avoid air hammer impact during pump start and stop, and the bottom should have a discharge port for regular removal of accumulated sand and gravel.

After our technical team understood the situation, they recommended the JYMF-6P-316 multi-bag filter. The specific matching points are:
- Six 2# filter bags are connected in parallel, with a total filtration area of 3.0 m². Compared to the original system with a single bag, the capacity to hold contaminants has increased by 4 times, and the bag replacement cycle has been extended from 3 days to 14 days.
- The cylinder body and the filter basket are both made of SS316 and undergo additional passivation treatment. The surface sandblasting layer enhances the ability to resist seawater adhesion. After 6 months of on-site operation, there is no pitting corrosion inside.
- The top exhaust valve is coordinated with the variable-frequency pump startup logic, completely eliminating water hammer noise; the bottom sewage valve is opened for 2 seconds every day at a fixed time to remove the accumulated fine sand, avoiding wear at the bottom of the filter bag.
After the equipment was put into operation, it operated continuously for 210 days without any unplanned downtime. The actual service life of the filter bags increased from 72 hours to 336 hours (14 days). The annual cost of consumables for a single unit of the equipment was reduced by approximately 62%. The cylinder diameter is only 600mm. The customer directly embedded this filter into the gap of the original pipeline support without the need for expanding the pump room.
The on-site operation supervisor stated: "What we are most satisfied with about this JYMF-6P-316 unit is that the pressure difference rise curve is very gentle. From the initial pressure difference of 0.15 bar to the alarm value of 1.2 bar, it operated for a full 13 days and half. Moreover, the PTFE sealing ring did not leak under the high-temperature seawater (45℃), completely eliminating our concerns about the possible flow deviation when multiple bags are connected in parallel."
