The high-efficiency diaphragm filter press helps chemical plants achieve low moisture content in filter cakes and efficient recovery of solvents.

2025-11-20

I. Customer Background and Core Pain Points
This customer is a global leader in the production of high-performance organic pigments. Its products are widely used in automotive coatings, high-end plastics, and printing inks. During the production process, the synthesized pigment slurry needs to undergo filtration, washing, and dehydration to obtain a high-purity pigment cake.
The original traditional filter press of the customer has three major drawbacks:
High moisture content in the filter cake: It reaches over 35%, which results in extremely high energy consumption and high costs for the subsequent spray drying system.
Poor washing effect: The washing solution fails to penetrate the dense filter cake evenly, resulting in the residue of impurities, which affects the color, lightness and purity of the product.
Severe solvent loss: The expensive production process solvents (toluene/alcohols) are lost along with the filtrate, and the open-site liquid discharge method causes solvent evaporation, posing safety and environmental protection risks and increasing the cost of raw materials.
II. Solution: Customized Diaphragm Filter Press System

After in-depth technical communication and material testing, we customized this 500-type fully automatic diaphragm filter press for the customer and made targeted configurations:
Core equipment: 500-type hydraulic diaphragm filter press, equipped with two concealed liquid collection pipes.
Filter unit: 9 filter plates combined (5 65mm thick diaphragm pressing plates + 4 58mm thick supporting plates).
Washing system: The 304 stainless steel multi-stage pump (CDLF2-70) provides stable and high-pressure washing water flow.
Feed and pressing: The 304SS sanitary pneumatic diaphragm pump (QBY-15) is responsible for feeding, and an independent diaphragm pressing system provides high-pressure pressing.
Material and Sealing: The frame, pipes, and pump valves are all made of 304 stainless steel (304SS), ensuring resistance to solvent corrosion.
Automatic control: Integrated electronic control cabinet, achieving full automation from pressing, feeding, washing, pressing to discharging.
III. Implementation Process and Work Flow
Automated feeding and filtration: The pigment slurry is smoothly pumped into the filter press by an air-operated diaphragm pump. The filtrate is collected in a sealed manner through dual counter-flow pipelines, effectively preventing solvent evaporation and maintaining a clean workshop environment.
Efficient penetration washing: After the filtration process is completed, the multi-stage pump is automatically activated to perform bidirectional cross-washing. The powerful water flow evenly penetrates the filter cake, thoroughly removing salt and soluble impurities.
High-pressure diaphragm compression: After washing, high-pressure water is injected into the diaphragm plate, causing the diaphragm to bulge and perform a secondary mechanical compression on the filter cake. This step forcefully extricates the moisture and residual solvents within the capillary structure of the filter cake.
Automatic discharging and solvent recovery: After the pressing process is completed, the equipment automatically discharges the product. The obtained filter cake is firm and has few cracks. What's more important is that all the filtrate and washing liquid containing solvents are sealedly collected in the undercurrent collection pipe and directed to the customer's solvent recovery system, achieving the recycling of solvents.
IV. Analysis of Results and Benefits
After installing and operating our diaphragm filter press, the production efficiency and economic benefits of the customer have been significantly improved:
The moisture content of the filter cake has been significantly reduced: from over 35% to below 18%. This measure has directly reduced the energy consumption in the subsequent drying process by approximately 40%.
Product purity has been significantly enhanced: Thanks to the efficient washing system, the impurity content in the products has been greatly reduced. The color purity and consistency of the pigment products have reached new heights, thereby enhancing their market competitiveness.
Solvent recovery rate exceeds 95%: The sealed dual counter-flow design and high-intensity pressing have significantly increased the recovery rate of the process solvent, saving customers a huge amount of raw material procurement costs annually.
Automation of operations, cost savings in labor: The fully automatic operation has replaced the original teams that required multiple personnel to be on duty, reducing human operational errors and enhancing production safety and stability.
Environmental protection and safety: Completely solved the problem of solvent evaporation in the workshop, meeting the increasingly strict environmental protection and safety production regulations.
V. Customer Evaluation
"This membrane filter press is not merely a piece of equipment; it is the core of our process upgrade. It has excellently resolved the cost and quality issues that have plagued us for years. Particularly, the design of membrane pressing and dual counter-flow closed collection has brought us direct economic and environmental benefits. The supplier's understanding of chemical processes and the customization capabilities of the equipment are truly impressive."
