The application of candle-type filters in the finished oil filtration project of the lubricant blending plant in the Middle East Project

A lubricant blending factory in the Middle East mainly produces vehicle engine oil and industrial hydraulic oil. In the final filtration process before the finished products are filled, the customer's original bag-type filter machine had problems such as frequent filter bag replacements, unstable filtration accuracy, and high disposal costs for the used filter bags. The customer hoped to upgrade the filtration equipment and requested a stable filtration accuracy of 5 microns, the ability to adapt to oil temperatures ranging from 85 to 90 degrees Celsius, and a reduction in the frequency of consumable replacements and long-term operating costs.

After an on-site assessment of the working conditions, we customized the JYCFS-17M2 candle-type filter for the customer. This equipment has a filtration area of 17 square meters. The outer shell is made of carbon steel, and the filter element consists of 38 SS304 stainless steel filter elements, with a length of 1750 millimeters and a filter element spacing of 140 millimeters.

The core advantage of this solution lies in the fact that the stainless steel filter element can be repeatedly cleaned and reused, replacing the disposable filter bags. This significantly reduces the long-term cost of consumables. Additionally, the candle-type structure has thorough backwashing, and the filter cake automatically detaches, making it suitable for liquids with high viscosity such as lubricating oil.

Implementation process

After the equipment arrived, the customer installed it at the outlet position of the buffer tank before the filling line. Since the equipment comes with a support frame, the installation process was relatively simple. Only the inlet and outlet pipelines and the compressed air source needed to be connected. We remotely guided the setting of the control logic for the pneumatic sewage valve. The customer's electrical personnel completed the wiring and debugging in two days. Then, a one-week trial run was conducted, during which the particle size of the oil before and after filtration was tested.

Operation results
Filtration Cleanliness: Consistently maintained at below NAS 8 level, meeting filling standards with no accuracy fluctuations.
Cost Efficiency: Consumable costs decreased by approximately 70%. Filter element replacement cycle estimated to exceed one year.

In terms of operational stability, the working pressure of the equipment is maintained between 3.5 and 4 bars, and the pressure difference rises slowly. The fluorine rubber sealing ring did not deform or leak at the oil temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. The bottom pneumatic discharge valve automatically opens once a week to discharge a small amount of accumulated impurities. The slag discharge process is fully automated and does not require manual operation.

Case Summary

This case demonstrates the applicability of the JYCFS-17M2 candle-type filter in the filtration scenario of lubricating oil products. With a 5-micron accuracy, it can meet the cleanliness requirements of mid-to-high-end lubricating oil products. The combination of stainless steel filter element and polyester filter cloth significantly reduces the cost of consumables. The automatic backwashing and pneumatic discharge functions are suitable for lubricating oil blending factories that require continuous production and reduce manual intervention. The carbon steel shell performs stably under oil conditions ranging from room temperature to 90 degrees Celsius. The overall solution takes into account both performance and economy.
